I got into this business, in all honesty, out of necessity.  I purchased a second home in Palm Springs while I was anchoring the news in Chicago, my full-time job that I loved but when you live somewhere that cold, you've got to have a warm escape. I've been coming to Palm Springs for 15 years and always dreamed of owning a Mid-Cenutry Modern "Alexander."  And my dream home became a reality when the housing market crashed.  My good fortune was someone else's foreclosure. 

I hired a firm and handed over control to a local property management firm, and then waited for the renters to come rolling in.  I waited and waited for seven months.  It was agonizing.  I had poured a lot of money into fixing up the home, and making it marketable.  But that firm, which is one of the market leaders and shall remain nameless here (who needs even the threat of a lawsuit, right?) didn't rent my house once in seven months.  Not once!
